WENGER UNSURE ON WILSHERE

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he does not know when star midfielder Jack Wilshere will return from his injury troubles. The England midfielder has been out of the first team action for more than a year now. He was initially expected to come back from his knee operation in January, but a stress fracture has meant that his return had to be postponed. Many expected him to return in time for the start of the Euro 2012, but now he has not only missed the European Championships, but also the London Olympics 2012 as well.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the start of the pre-season, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has cast a cloud of doubt over the future of Jack Wilshere by saying that he does not know when his star midfielder will return from his injury problems. The presence of Jack Wilshere was expected to soften the blow of the exit of Cesc Fabregas from the club, but since then, the club has seen very little out of the starlet. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents in English football right now. Wenger, though, has confirmed that he is making progress in his attempt to recover from the injury.

“I am positive but a bit cautious because we had so much disappointing news with him. Everybody in the medical department says to me he’s doing very well. He is still in the gym. Any player still in the gym in July is not on the pitch in August, that is for sure. I don’t want to give him any precise deadline because that would put him under huge pressure,” said Arsene Wenger while on the pre-season tour in Asia. Arsenal have put a £ 30 million pricetag on the star striker Robin van Persie.
