WILSHERE PICKS ROONEY OVER KANE
Ex-Arsenal and West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere has opted for Wayne Rooney ahead of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. Jack Wilshere was on TalkSPORT as recent as last week and he was asked to pick one from the England duo of Rooney and Kane. In his response to the question, Jack Wilshere said that Manchester United legend Rooney was unplayable when he was at the peak of his powers in the colours of the England national team. Wilshere went on to say that he has not seen anyone better than Rooney at the age of 16 before adding that the current Derby County manager will get angry in training and drive past three or four before smashing the ball into the back of the net.
Kane was at his best in the penultimate World Cup 2022 qualifier for the England senior national team at the expense of the Albanians. The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored three first half goals to lead England to an emphatic 5-0 win over Albania. His tally of three goals against the Albanians on Friday night took his total England tally to 44 goals. The other England players who found the back of the net were Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.
Spurs hitman Kane got one more goal by the time he returned to action for England in the final World Cup qualifier for Qatar 2022. He scored four times as England produced a record-breaking performance by beating 10-man San Marino 10-0 to seal their passage to the tournament on Qatari soil. Kane is now on 48 England goals and just five goals off Rooney.
